If you have a web site or blog you know how hard it can be to write, research and post new articles. It can take anywhere from 2 to 5 hours to create a quality post.

Or you can use PLR products.

I have done both. And what I’ve learned is that it is better to create your own articles to publish on your blog. That doesn’t mean that you have to spend a lot of time doing research and writing from scratch.

You can use PLR content. You just need to change it and make it your own.

Make it unique enough so that you don’t get penalized by Google for having duplicate content on your blog. You may have been hearing about duplicate content penalties and don’t know exactly how it works.

The way that Google penalizes you is to not display your blog or web site in search results.  This has happened to me when I’ve used PLR without changing any of the text. Recently I’ve started writing articles myself and changing the text on PLR products and I am now showing up on search results.

It's not so much that Google doesn't want to display your web site, it will if you add value to the content such as providing links and other information including video and news feeds to the content.

What is PLR and What is it Good For?

PLR is short for Private Label Rights. That just means that you can use the content and put your name on it as if you were the author.

PLR comes in many forms:

• Articles (with word counts)
  
• Prewritten newsletters or e-zines that you can use in mail lists
  
• Small reports that you can sell or give away
  
• Full length eBooks that you can use to capture leads or sell
  
• Website templates to help you build a web site
  
• Audios and videos
  

Generally, anything that you can download on the Internet is being sold as PLR. There are a lot of places to download free PLR content. You can find them by performing a search on Google for free PLR. Or you can click on the links I have listed below, but first finish reading this article.

PLR Rules

Different PLR sellers have different rules as to what you can do with their products. They all have their own unique rules, but most of the publishers allow you to use the content however you wish. The difference is that certain publishers do not allow you to turn around and sell the product as your own or give it away.

Other publishers limit how many people can buy their content. This way the market isn’t saturated with the same content and it keeps their quality level high so that they can charge more money.

You should read the rules of any PLR product that you download. There is usually a ‘read me’ or a ‘rights’ file included with the package.

There are many ways to use PLR products, listed below are a few ideas.

• Record a Freebie Audio
  
• Small Reports and eBooks
  
• Create a new web site
  

Many PLR publishers deal in small reports or articles on a theme that could easily be created into bigger reports or eBooks. For example, it’s easy to find 10 small PLR articles about the same thing, such as dieting.

If you combine all of the articles you could create an eBook or use them as content for a newsletter. If you plan to distribute a newsletter once a week you’ll have 10 weeks’ worth of material to send out and you don’t have to write a single word.

When you use PLR in newsletters or email courses you don’t have to change the text very much because you don’t have to worry about having duplicate content on your blog or web site.

The content isn’t posted on your blog. It’s sent through email or downloaded.

Recently I downloaded a lot of PLR content related to self-help and I created a new web site with more than 25 pages of content. It wasn’t an ‘instant’ web site because I had to change the text a little and add links and so on but the task was easy because I had a lot of material to work with.

So, whether you want to create a web site or need ideas for an article you want to write I suggest using PLR content. Just make it your own and you’ll have quality content that makes you look good to your readers.
